Hello, I'm Jayne Judkins, owner and founder of HomeMakers To Go. I'd like to share a little history with you on how HomeMakers came about.

Having been a homemaker myself for the majority of the past 20+ years, and frequently entertaining friends and family in my home for most of my adult life, I thought it would be wise once my youngest entered school to consider school myself. There, I might discover some hidden talents that would pave the way to some career path outside of the home. I couldn't have been more wrong! I quickly found myself very unhappy, juggling work, school, my two youngest boys, trying to keep up on my own studies (which I was not entirely thrilled with), being a single mom, etc. As the hectic days eventually caught up to me, I kept coming back to a question I had asked so many times before. That question was frustrating because I had no answers for it. At least I didn't think so. My question was, "How can I take the skills that I have aquired through all these years of homemaking and turn them into something valuable?" I kept hearing, "By doing exactly what you are doing"! I didn't get it. I kept reminding myself that "nobody pays for homemaking skills". I wasn't talking about maid or some sort of cleaning service. I was talking about true homemaker skills. I was not interested in being a maid. I knew there was too much inside of me to be happy scrubbing someone's floors. I've had plenty of time to ponder exactly what those skills are because, like I said, I didn't get it. In fact, it took several years of feeling frustrated and off track before I could believe what I was hearing. I finally got it. 

In considering all of the roles that a seasoned HomeMaker plays out over the years, to fairly describe this position would include an awefully long list of responsibilities and abilities. She is an ideal example of "the multitasker". She can plan a great birthday party for one of the kids, or a backyard family reunion. She's a great cook and she knows what the family likes. She's a shoulder to cry on or someone to laugh with. Her natural instincts are to serve, care for, and improve the lifestyles of those who she is connected to.

My heart is in the home. And, now it's in the home's of all of my clients because I finally understood the answer to that question. By doing what I have always done, I have become a valuable resource to so many others and that could not please me more!
